I am Principal Scientist (Genetics & Plant Breeding). My Specialization is Plant breeding/ Improvement of forage crops, Forage genetic resources-conservation and improvement, Abiotic and biotic stress and Quality breeding.
Divisions in IGFRI
- Collection, evaluation, characterization, documentation and conservation of forage genetic resources.
- Development of high yielding nutritive varieties, tolerant to biotic and abiotic stress and suitable for different agro- climatic conditions.
- Basic research relevant to forage crop improvement.
- Development of suitable fodder production systems for irrigated and rainfed situations with an emphasis on efficient use of inputs, particularly nutrients and water.
- Development of forage based farming systems.
- Soil resource management and agro-meteorological studies relating to forage production systems.
- Inventory, characterization and documentation of range resources.
- Ecological evaluation of range species for different land use systems.
- Technology generation for establishment, improvement, management and utilization of grasslands/silvopastures/hortipastures.

- To conduct research on different aspects of production, standards and storage of forage seeds

- Design, development and evaluation of post harvest processing techniques for efficient utilization, conservation and value enrichment of forage produce including seed processing.
- Development and evaluation of soil and moisture conservation techniques and structures for increasing production and productivity of range lands.
- To undertake research on forage based socio-economic and extension aspects of forage production system.
- Transfer of technology on forage production and utilization.
- Strengthening linkages with various stakeholders in forage production and grassland management.
